Growing up during the Great Depression taught him the value of intangibles: family, memories and mementos. As Rick Butler researched, practiced, perfected his process, and began to bronze baby shoes for friends and family, he developed a product pleasing to the eye and the environment.

Children’s photographers previously promoted pictures mounted with bronzed baby shoes. Today, digital cameras and computers enable parents to take their own pictures, but what about the shoes? The sentimental value of baby’s first steps never goes out of style. The beautifully bronzed shoes, on custom designed wood base with name and date of birth provides a decorative display for mantle or table-top.

Rick bronzes each child’s shoes individually, by hand, no machines nor mass production. He is a detail-oriented perfectionist, aware that the shoes are irreplaceable, to be handled with the utmost care.
